It’s official – Loretta Chase is simply a master. Her characters are witty, funny, sensual, and endearing. GAH! I love it. I loved this book. Last Night’s Scandal is a 2011 Finalist for a RITA award, and I can definitely see why.
Olivia is stunningly beautiful, smart, and independent. She’s a woman who knows what she wants (and what she doesn’t). Her friendship with the Earl of Lisle has stretched over years and distance, Lisle primarily residing in Egypt while Olivia traipses around London. He is rational. She is whimsical. He is predictable. She is a tempest. Their chemistry sizzles between the pages, as heavy and looming as the Scottish estate Lisle is handed to rescue. And in ever consistent Loretta Chase style, their scenes are funny, passionate, and sensual. Lovely.
I adored this book. I’m so glad I read it. It’s a wonderful mash of romance, Gothic suspense, humor, and passion.
