Redonk Nutshell: Woman bonds with forbidden werewolf

This is a spicy lil’ fantasy novella from Charlotte Stein. I’m going to admit this (though I don’t think this is the 1st time I’ve mentioned here at TRD): I don’t really get into shapeshifters. Weres never really did it for me. Not sure why. I just…don’t really dig it. Regardless, I’m a fanwhore for Charlotte Stein, so I picked this one up because it sounded intriguing.

Serena has been taking care of the captive werewolf, Connor, since his capture. The world is in the grips of a werewolf plague, and the remaining humans have been racing to figure out how to get it under control. Connor is the enemy, though Serena can’t really bring herself to seem him as such. In fact, she finds herself drawn to him. When things start to get a bit crazy at the compound, Serena finds herself taking steps to help Connor, even though their attraction to each other is forbidden.

This wasn’t my favorite of Ms. Stein’s, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I liked the post-apocalyptic world she created, a world that is being slowly ravaged by out of control weres. The line between the “good and bad” guys is not an easy one to distinguish, and it’s easy to sympathize with both Serena and Connor.

This is a short read, but an engaging one. If you like fantasy reads with supernatural thrills give this one a go.
