Redonk Nutshell: Woman new to the courtesan trade enlists training from a reclusive widower.
Lysandra Keates has reached the end of her tether. She turns to a notorious courtesan for help, insisting she wants to become a courtesan in order to pay off her debts and get herself settled. She is put in touch with a reluctant teacher, Viscount Andrew Callis. Callis agrees to the arrangement, though he has his own hang ups about it. He has steeled himself against any form of pleasure since the death of his wife and infant son years prior. The arrangement is for a month, and despite their reservations, they both take to it with equal fervor. When Callis begins to form an attachment, however, he’s forced to reexamine his decision.
This was a fun and sensual read. I really like Jess Michaels and her historicals. In fact, I’m pretty sure Everything Forbidden was one of my first ever erotic historical reads. I’ve enjoyed reading her novels as they’re released, and An Introduction to Pleasure was no different. There are no twists or turns, and it’s a fairly predictable plot, but it was fun to read nonetheless.
If you’re looking for an erotic historical read that offers a gradual ease into erotica, give this one a go.
